FINALISTS FOR CANADIAN WOMEN IN NEW MEDIA AWARDS ANNOUNCED!

Three outstanding industry leaders to receive award on June 4, 1999

Toronto, ON (May 27, 1999) - Organizers of the inaugural Canadian Women in New Media Awards (CWNMA) have announced the top 5 finalists for this year's awards. Votes from the National Selection Committee have been tallied and three outstanding leaders in the Canadian new media industry will each receive an award on Friday, June 4, 1999 at the newMedia99 trade show in Toronto.

The Top 5 Finalists are:

Pioneer Award

Outstanding Young Woman Award

Members of the media are invited to attend the AWARDS CEREMONY, to be held on Friday, June 4 from 4:00 - 5:00 PM at the Metropolitan Toronto Convention Centre, 255 Front Street West, North Entrance - Hall C (Keynote Speaker area, South East corner).

Profiles of this year's nominees will be displayed in the CWNMA booth (#615) at the newMedia99 trade show (June 2-4, 1999) and on the CWNMA Web site at http://www.multimediator.com/cwnma.

The purpose of the Canadian Women in New Media Awards is to recognize the accomplishments of individual women contributing to the new media sector in Canada. The awards are also an opportunity to promote new media in Canada and provide a real network of role models for those interested in pursuing careers in the sector.

The Pioneer Award recognizes long-term leadership by a woman who is a role model in advancing the growth and reputation of the Canadian new media industry. The Outstanding Young Woman Award will be presented to the young woman who has demonstrated commitment to the industry through her unique talents and by providing an example to others. The Outstanding Volunteer Award recognizes the dedication, skills and knowledge of a woman who has improved the industry through her volunteer efforts.

The Canadian Women in New Media Awards are presented by newMedia99 and MultiMediator. The Awards are sponsored by Human Resources Development Canada, Hewlett Packard, Bell Canada, The Institute for Computer Studies, and MultiMediator Strategy Group. Media Sponsors include the CBC, GLOBEcareers.com, and newmedia.pro magazine. Over 45 new media associations, funding bodies, and government agencies from across the country also support the awards.
